FTP/SFTP Accounts

A file transfer protocol account (FTP account) is a type of user account that enables the transfer of files with a host computer. It is created and maintained on an FTP/SFTP server. To set up an FTP account, the port number will be 21, and for an SFTP account, the port number will be 22.

1. Create a FTP/SFTP Account

  1. Go to the Ontoto Web Portal.
  2. Click on Settings in the menu bar and select FTP Accounts.
  3. Click on Create FTP Account.
  4. Enter the account name, server name, username, password, and port.
  5. Click on  Create FTP Account.

2. Create a FTP/SFTP Data Feed

If you have an FTP account on the Ontoto Portal, you will be able to create an FTP data feed for each sensor to send data to your system via FTP according to your chosen data sending frequency.

  1. Go to the Ontoto Web Portal.
  2. Click on Devices in the menu bar and select Devices.
  3. All your devices will be listed with their ID, name, latest sensor reading, status, dashboard, model, and battery info.
  4. Enter the device name in the search bar to locate the device.
  5. Click on View to access the device sensors.
  6. Click on View to access the selected sensor.
  7. Click on Create FTP Data Feed.
  8. Select the account name.
  9. Enter the destination path.
  10. Select the data sending frequency, and file format.
  11. Enter the required information for the chosen file format if prompted.
  12. Enable Active.
  13. Click on Create FTP Data Feed.

Sensor data will be sent in a CSV file depending on your chosen file format. Below are examples of the file formats.
